Bad Company 2 Quick 1st Impressions

Unfortunatley I’m just a regular dude and not privy to a pre-relase copy of BFBC2 but I’ve had some relatively good time with the PC version of the game to put up some quck first impressions. These are just things that immediatley stood out to me. I will review the full game a bit later as I get into the single player campaign. The big issue for me right now is I can’t play at all online with the PC version. I get into games but get kicked about 3 min or so into it. Really frustrating but the game up to that point has been awesome albiet the technical issues are annoying me.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet, hopefully this weekend I’ll get some gameplay videos up of the PC version. I also hope to get some stuff out on the Xbox 360 detailing the differences in both platforms.

PC Version – The Good:

Maps variety is pretty awesome.
The variety of maps are really amazing. I mean it seems like I dont see the same map in a gameplay session which is really nice and keeps the feeling fresh. This may change at some point I know but as of 2 days into the game I feel there are plenty of maps to choose from.

Sound is Stellar:
I popped on my headphones and I was completley immersed in the game play and the main reason is because of the intense sound that this game pumps out. When a sniper is sniping you from across the map and a bullet zips by your skull you hear a distinct “zzzippp” sound and you know to get behind some conver ASAP.. You can also hear shooting in the distance and can identify where the fire fight is and head that way. The sound is simply amazing it just blows all other games outta the water in this field.

The Bad:
Connection/technical issues. I always assume that these types of games on launch will have their issues, its just part of how online works these days. Usually give it a week or so and the game is pretty smooth. On day one it seemed I had no problems connecting, now I can’t even stay in a game. Sometimes I connect, sometimes I dont.. Other times I get in but get kicked. There a couple fixes out now but neither have worked for me. Hopefully they have this addressed soon.

Death to Snipers:
Snipers, OMFG, I cant stress how important it is to find a good squad or a good server in general, if you get into a game and you see 10 snipers on your team, get out of that game immediately. This of course is not DICE’s fault, it’s just part of life in these types of FPS’s. Better yet, switch to the other team and hunt them down and kill them with a stab to the face.

Check back for a full review and hopefully some videos in the future.
